About the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination (CSE) to recruit officers into services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and other central services. The examination is organised around three successive stages, each testing different capabilities.
The examination combines conceptual understanding, current affairs, reasoning, descriptive writing and the evaluation of personal suitability for public service. Candidates should consult the official UPSC notification for eligibility, attempts, vacancies and the current syllabus.
What does Mains Preparation mean?
Mains preparation focuses on understanding written-paper demands and expressing analysis through clear, structured answers. The Answer Writing Programme (AWP) focuses on test-based writing and evaluation; the Mains Mentorship Programme (MMP) includes AWP with broader academic preparation support.
Suitable for candidates preparing for the descriptive Main Examination, including those seeking regular evaluation and structured study support.
